A proud Kapampangan from Masantol, Autumn Cheyenne Durald Arkapaw made history as the first woman to win Best Cinematographer at the Academy Awards, and the first Kapampangan to ever take home an Oscar, for the film “Sinners.”

She credits her late grandfather from Masantol, a World War II soldier and Death March survivor, as a major influence in her life. Describing him as one of the most important people in her journey, she even brings his photo in guerrilla uniform to her film sets as a reminder of her roots.

Among her previous works is “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”
